Using Photographs in Your Scrapbook

Photographs are wonderful elements to any scrapbook. They will be the ultimate pièce de résistance of any particular scrapbook. The main feature. The show-stopper. It will primarily be the first and only thing that they will remember when they try to form a picture of your project in their head. The different smiles that were on the page, the candid shot of a surprised nephew or that silly face your Uncle Peter always does. Whatever they do, it all boils down to what picture got their attention. Scrapbooking will not be complete if there are no pictures to both complement and complete any collage-making endeavor. The pictures that you put will be the one element that will bring life to that otherwise dull page. All of the nice scrapbooks have been meticulously crafted, decorated and accentuated. But the most memorable ones always have the icing on the cake: photographs.

There are a lot of things that you can do to your picture when you include it in your collage. You can basically make it the centerpiece of your page and place it in a centered manner. You can essentially place it individually or huddle them in a group as if implying a cluttered mess. The possibilities are actually limitless and can only be hindered by one's imagination. It only takes a few times of doing it over and over until you get the hang of it.

To be able to aid one's efforts on decorating, it would be great if one would familiarize oneself with the different types of accents that can be included in scrapbooking. Examples of these might be buttons, ribbons, ruffled cloths, various artwork, simple captions and beads. There are several other options that can be bought in a scrapbooking shop like cutouts and patterned paper but it should be remembered that the photograph is still the main element in a scrapbook.

Photographs can be hard to place especially when you are going through a large collection of pictures. It will be a difficult but rewarding task. The best ones to include are candid ones which is a great addition when you are trying to make a mark on the viewer. Types of these photographs might be people playing a game or participating in a charity event. People who are at their most relaxed and natural pose are good targets for scrapbook-worthy pictures. Pictures of people socializing with other people are most definitely shoo-ins for a scrapbook as they will be able to tell as story as well as attract the viewer's attention. Always try to capture those facial expressions which you know will be a classic piece that your audience will talk about when they get to see it. They might be pictures of people looking directly at the camera or they can be as solemn or joyful as possible. When trying to capture these types of photographs, be sure that you only be as inconspicuous as the stranger five meters away.
